Buying first camera

mardi 29 décembre 2015

Hi, I am looking to buy my first decent camera due to work and study but I know literally nothing about them. I've started researching them but I honestly don't know where to start.

There are two main functions I will need it for. Firstly I am starting a makeup course and need to be able to take HD/High quality pictures for my portfolio. Secondly, my internship has requested I start their youtube channel so I need something that will also be able to produce high enough quality videos (I...

Camera dying?

vendredi 25 décembre 2015

I have a samsung WB600 that I bought about five years ago and I am very happy with the quality of photos. I am by no means professional, just happy snappy. Today I decided to take a few christmas photos and after about two or three the lcd screen suddenly turned pink and the photos looks like there were fingermarks on the screen. The screen is clean. I reset the camera to factory setting, but its still the same. I doubt that its the memory card as it is doing the same without the card as...

Digital Wifi Camera that auto sends via email?

mardi 22 décembre 2015

Hi,

I work in a dock where we receive many items some of which does not have paperwork (which is usually scanned into the computer). We take records of items with no paperwork in a note book but there are inaccurate entries because many people work different parts of the day so it is hard to maintain the integrity of the record.

Most of the people who work here are not techno savvy and do not like the idea of anything too drastic in the ways of changing the system. So I was thinking if we...

Best Canon DSLR for Video

samedi 19 décembre 2015

I am looking for a camera able to film aircraft in air shows at a distance. Talking with several people I've decided the best way to go is to get a DSLR over a camcorder due to the lens options (telephoto). I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what the best camera might be for this. I'm thinking the Canon 7D or 6D or 7D mark ii. The 7D being the cheapest is the preferred camera but ultimately I want something that will work well with what I need.

Any thoughts? Best Canon DSLR for Video

Sony a7: using non full-frame E-mount lenses.

I'm really interested in the A7 but am nervous about the really small selection of lens choices currently available.

I'm fairly clueless about the ins-and-outs of how lenses and sensors interact, but I am learning....

I'd really like a "walking around" lens like the Sony 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 .

I assume this lens would work on the A7 but you'd have to crop the image to get rid of the dark corners? (I didn't see that the A7 has an "auto-crop" mode)....

Fast Learner: Tips for getting better actions shots with your compact camera

The difficult truth, as any working sports or nature photographer will tell you, is that shooting action photos is equal parts skill and art. Good instincts, intuition, anticipation, and the ability to read a scene and make choices quickly all play a part in getting the best possible photos in fast-moving situations. While there are no shortcuts to great photos, some basic knowledge of which camera settings and what shooting techniques to depend on in these situations will go a long way...

Dirt inside zoom lens

I have bought 5 different Lumix point and shoot cameras from Panasonic. Each worked great until I noticed dirt, usually small hairs or spots appearing on my photos. Despite all precautions, after about half year of use, dirt has ruined each camera. I don't have the skills to open the camera to remove the small hairs/dust and repairs would cost as much as a new camera. Does this problem appear in other brands or just in Panasonic? I have used both Canon & Casio cameras in the past, also small...

In need of camera advice...

mercredi 16 décembre 2015

I currently own a Nikon D3100 and would like to move over to Canon. I am in my final year of a film course at university and think it is time to invest in a decent camera for future videographer/photographer work. I have my mind set on the Canon 70D, I believe this would work well for what I intend to use it for. However, a camera like this has quite a hefty price tag. I would like to know if there are cheaper alternatives to this. If there are no alternatives to this, where would be a good...

NIkon walkaround under 500

Nikon 16-85mm or 18-200?

Just got a 7100. The only lens I have right now is a 35mm 1.8 prime. Looking for something to use daily. It appears the 16-85 is more but should make better shots. 18-200 obviously, more range, little less expensive. Pros and cons? Recommendations anyone?

Thanks! NIkon walkaround under 500

Looking for new point and shoot

vendredi 11 décembre 2015

Hi I am looking for a new point and shoot, I will mainly be using it at wrestling events not just big arena shows but small local shows so lighting situation will vary greatly.

I would like an optical zoom of 18x or higher, battery has to be pretty decent also replaceable batteries should be affordable so I can stock up on extra. The form factor should be preferably on the compact side.

Thats basically it of course it should be quick, I wouldnt mind it also having wifi but not a deal...

Bracketing vs. HDR Shooting

Cropping and getting a large picture?

mercredi 9 décembre 2015

Hello - Please tell me what setting I need to have on my Panasonic Lumix FX20 to allow me to get a large picture after I crop? Somewhere along the line, I must have changed a setting in the camera because, now, when I crop, I am only separating the item to its own photo and it remains the same size.... I obviously want my 'crop' to give me a zoomed and enlarged image.
Thank you for your advice.

FOV is short for Field of View which means that part of the world that is visible through the camera at a particular position and orientation in space. The figure below can easily explain this concept.
