A question on filters

I know that there is big difference in the quality of glass in lenses, and would like to know if the same applies to filters?

I am fairly new to photography and learning as I go. I am shooting an a7 with G and G Master lenses. I see a million filters on Amazon from $6 bucks all the way up to several hundred. I have tried to do some research on line but this topic doesn't really seem to be talked about much.

I don't want to put cruddy filter on a great lens if there is a big difference....
